Praise Service – Celebrating 180 years
“O God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come”, are a couple of lines from a hymn by Isaac Watts. It is something we can prayerfully and with joyful hearts reflect upon as we celebrate 180 years of God’s faithfulness to us in our congregational life. A lot has happened since 1836 as the first minister Rev. Sampson Jack first preached here and a Meeting House was completed.
On Sunday 8th May the congregation celebrated God’s faithfulness to us, as together with a number of past ministers we gave thanks, read God’s Word and fellowshipped together. It was a delight to welcome Rev. Alistair Kerr, Rev. Joe Fell, Rev. Ivan Hunter, Rev. Joe McCormick and Rev. William McCully to speak on the evening. The service was brought to a close by Rev. Tommy Bruce and was followed by presentations to past minister by Nigel Rankin. The evening ended with refreshments and chance to fellowship with each other in the hall. A big thank you to all who took part, the speakers, the praise group and of course the ladies who provided a wonderful supper, not forgetting Clive Wasson Photography who took photos on the night.
